Second Year Hockey Match

Ms Lynch’s second year hockey team took on Bandon Grammer in a league match at home. The game started swiftly in the first quarter with the girls having a strong defense line and moving the ball up to the forwards. The solid back line of Aoife O Flynn Meade, Ciara Allman, Eimear Nyhan and Amy McCarthy continued to push the ball into the midfielders. This tactic led to the first score of the game by Anna Meade. 

In the second quarter, the SHSS girls kept the ball within the scoring half. Midfielders Niamh Kennedy, Niamh McCarthy and Caoimhe McEvoy, ensured that the Bandon girls didn’t make their way forward. This saw the girls to half time, where they led 1-0.

In the second half, Clon were put under pressure, but this didn’t phase goalie, Leah Murphy who brought off some great saves.Bandon were lucky to score a quick goal in the last quarter. Players, Aoife Whelton, Alice White, Deirdre O Neill, Alannah Harrington and Juliette Lawlor continued to keep the pace to the final whistle. A great match that ended in a draw of 1-1.
