Road Safety demonstration

Recently 5th and 6th year students attended a demonstration conducted by An Garda Síochána, Cork County Fire Services and the Clonakilty branch of the Red Cross. A two vehicle collision was simulated and students were talked through the exact steps and procedures that would follow if this happened in real life. Students were informed of their legal and ethical responsibilities as passengers and drivers of cars, as well as witnessing first hand how drink and drug tests are carried out roadside. The fire services also demonstrated how they dismantle a car involved in a crash (where the airbags have deployed) in a way that ensures maximum safety for the occupant. After the demonstration the relevant groups answered some questions from the students. Thanks to @gardaicork @gardaireland @corkcountyfire and the Red Cross for highlighting and promoting safe driving on our roads. #shss #aschoolforall #choosewell
