SHSS WEEKLY ROUNDUP - 28th January 2022

What a week! Drones, hockey, Catholic Schools Week, Céiliuradh CEIST preparations! It was hectic.

And now, a roundup of the week at SHSS.

Best news of the week: Three weeks until Midterm! Get in!

Boffins of the week (1) : Ms Quirke’s second year Science Club who made lavender bath bombs and saw a big difference in the crystals with copper sulphate they made last week.

Boffins of the week (2): Ms Holland’s fifth years who drew their notes instead of using just words. Doodle Diagrams, if you don’t mind. Very cool.

Most random event of the week: The TYs and the fifth years standing on the astroturf, making a giant 80, as the drone filmed them from above. Confused? I don’t blame you. Let’s just say, it’s for Sacred Heart’s 80th anniversary celebrations. All will be revealed.

Speaker of the week (1): Past pupil, Paulina Karcz, who came back to SHSS for the Wednesday Lunchtime Talks.

Speaker of the week (2) : Caroline Kearney from MTU who gave an informative talk to the 6th years.

Podcast of the week : Past pupil, Laura Clancy, who gave sound advice via Zoom. Available soon to download.

Artists of the week: Ms Sheehan’s first year English class who drew bookmarks inspired by their novel, Refugee Boy.

Most flat out teacher of the week: Ms Moloney who was running around making TikToks and organising events for next week’s inaugural Céiliuradh CEIST.

Auf wiedersehen of the week: We say goodbye to Inken! Hope you’ll come back to visit one day!

Environmentalists of the week : The TY Sustainability class and the Green Schools team who cleared up the SHSS garden and made compost out of dead leaves.

Couturiers of the week: The Junk Kouture teams again! Their gowns are just amazing!

Victors of the week (1): The Senior C hockey team who won against Ashton!

Victors of the week (2) : The Minor B hockey team who won against Scoil Mhuire!

Victors of the week (3) : The Senior B hockey team who won against Scoil Mhuire!
