Sucess at Mini Company Regional Finals!

Today, two senior and three junior groups along with some of the business department set out to Fernhill House Hotel to compete in the West Cork mini company regional finals .Students and teachers from Schull, Bantry, Beara, Rosscarbry, Skibbereen and Bandon also attended. The products on display today were truly unique and of a great variety. Our senior groups included “Taste the Atlantic” and “Smashed”.

Taste the Atlantic which was created by Orla Kennefick, Caoimhe Dowling, Sarah Harte ,Orlaith Dineen and Ava Barry is a combination of recipes from the West of Ireland in a wooden recipe box. This authentic idea was a great hit with the judges and will no doubt continue to be a success.

Students, Dasha Davydova, Zoe Fitzpatrick, Niamh O’Donovan and Alison Collins were part of the team “Smashed”. As a group they create beautiful glass crafts using glass from recycled bottles which they paint and then arrange into a design to create a wonderful framed piece. The girls were successful today and came joint third over all. Their progress as a group will continue to grow as they develop their company more.

In the Junior Category the first year group “Beez Wraps” were overall winners! .Their product was a unique design of  bees wax wraps.

The other two groups from Sacred Heart in the junior category were “Pot Pourri Pouch” and “Bag O’Goods” .Pot Pourri are small pouches which hold materials allowing lavish scents to be dispersed . Bag O’ Goods are a small bag which contains a scrunchie , a bracelet ,hand made clips and a candle. The judges were equally impressed with all products. The girls had a great day while  learning an immense amount and gaining great experience from this opportunity.A huge credit to the work they have put in and to the business department for mentoring them.
